This trip offers a perfect blend of wildlife, scenery, and activity, all within a short drive from Arusha town. The day typically starts around 8:00 AM with a drive of just under an hour to the park gate. Upon arrival, there’s an option to begin with a guided walking safari accompanied by an armed ranger. This immersive experience allows you to approach animals on foot—perhaps giraffes browsing nearby or warthogs trotting ahead—as you learn about animal tracks, native plants, and the ecosystem. Following the walk, you’ll transition to a vehicle for a game drive through the misty montane forest and the edge of the Ngurdoto Crater. The park is home to black-and-white colobus monkeys, buffaloes, zebras, and abundant birdlife. Around midday, you’ll pause for a picnic lunch with views of either Mount Meru or one of the Momella Lakes, which shimmer with pink from flocks of flamingos.
